Privacy policy
BetterChimp exists to show you your own health data. This page explains what it collects, where that data lives, and what it will never do with it.
What we collect
- Your Google account basics: name, email address and a stable account identifier, used only to sign you in.
- Health and fitness data you connect: from Google Health and the Fitbit Web API, read-only. This covers heart rate, heart rate variability, resting heart rate, blood oxygen, respiratory rate, skin temperature, sleep sessions and stages, steps, distance, floors, calories, active energy, and weight or body fat where you have logged them.
- Files you import from Google Takeout, if you choose to.
- Access tokens from those providers, so collection can continue in the background.
How it’s used
Your data is used only to show it back to you: the Today view, Trends, and the read-only API you authorize. It is never sold, never shared with third parties, never used for advertising, and never used to train machine-learning models.
Google API Services
BetterChimp’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data from Google Health is read-only and is used solely to provide the features described here.
Where it’s stored
Readings are stored in a Cloudflare D1 database that belongs to this BetterChimp deployment. Provider tokens are encrypted with AES-256-GCM and bound to your account. All traffic uses HTTPS, and sessions use signed, HTTP-only cookies.
Your choices
- Disconnect a source at any time from the Sources page, or revoke access from your Google account. Collection stops immediately.
- Ask for a copy of your data, or for everything to be deleted, at [email protected]. Deletion requests are completed within 30 days.
Not medical advice
BetterChimp displays what your devices measured. It is not a medical device and doesn’t diagnose, treat or give medical advice.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects your data, the date above will change and signed-in users will be told in the app.
